Hotfix kb976462 problem?

I have Windows Server 2008 r2 and am trying to install sharepoint foundations 2010. I click install prerequisites and it says installing hotfix kb976462. I left it like this for 8 hours and it didn't do anything. It gets to the very end of the bar and doesn't stop. I end up having to end the process wusa.exe. I have tried this many times and it's not working. I've even tried restarting the computer. What should I do to have a successful installation?
