How can I fix my messaging on android?

When I recieve a message it says "+xxx-xxx-xxxx" where it would normaly say their name, and where their picture should be its just the default pic (grey android) I do have android 2.2. And I do have my phone sync with facebook. I tried clearing facebook cache...removing battery and restarting phone, re-installing the app. When this worked right it would say "their number here"
