Laptop problems. Login screen.?

So these last 2 days my laptop decided to act dumb. I tried to restart it once, and once I went to the login screen, something weird happened. Once I put the pass and clicked it, after like 3 seconds it would send me back to the login screen again. I've tried multiple times. Even in safe mode. Tried to restore but I get a catastrophic error. Anyone know anything else I could do besides call or reinstall.
