Sims 2 question! PLEASE HELP!?

When i insert the Sims 2 disk, I cant figure out how to get it up. It isnt coming up automaticlyir anything like that. And i tried going to my files, but the only option that looked like it may do somehting said 'send to' and i clicked that. And it said ''Please insert a writeable disk.'' So i know that isnt it. I dont know what to do . I have restarted the pc and cleaned the disk. I have Disk 1 in there. please help
