Whats the name of this game?

I'm searching for an old-school PC space game that an old friend of mine and I used to play when we were kids. I remember that traveling from one place to another took a while, and the 1st part of the game is you in your spacecraft, and you get a distress call from an alien vessel close to you. You investigate to see if you can help and I remember there were several choices. You could hail his (the alien in distress) ship to see if you can help, or fire on him and destroy him, or leave him be. That's all I can remember from the game, except that your ship was yellow I think. I could be wrong, but it may have been made by ID Realms, as I do recall playing quite a bit of wolfenstein on the same computer, as said friends father had purchased all the episodes for it, and maybe this space game came as a bonus or something??? Can anyone help?
