How can I rid my computer of avg pop ups?

I have norton on my computer, I tried to uninstall avg. I keep getting an error message and it won't go. I tried restoring to an earlier time nothing. I get a pop up every hour my computer needs to be restarted for the updates for avg. I tried that but nothing works. the pop ups are still there. help
